Meet the Family Behind the Farm

UR Family Health is built on family values, hands-on care, and a commitment to raising animals naturally. Get to know the people who stand behind every decision.

Meet the family behind the farm and the family practice clinic, UR Family Clinic, led by Bradley Rains, FNP, along with his son Ethan, partner Kay, and grandson Caliber.

The Mangalitsa pig, often referred to as the “Curly Hair Pig,” originates from Hungary and is widely regarded as the true Rolls-Royce of pork. Its flavor is known throughout the world as some of the best there is.

Mangalitsa pork is prized for its pure white fat, which is a healthy monounsaturated fat. It is naturally high in Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids, Vitamin D, and antioxidants. New studies are showing that diets including Mangalitsa fats may reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, and other health issues. Mangalitsa lard contains less saturated fat and more unsaturated fat than an equal amount of butter and contains no trans fats, unlike margarine, vegetable shortenings, and hydrogenated fats. Lard has seen a strong comeback in recent years, as chefs realize that no other cooking medium offers the same qualities and flavor.

Baby Mangalitsas are raised on the home farm in Gainesville.

Our goal is to raise meats that are completely untainted by chemicals or hormones. Today’s commercial livestock practices often force large feedlot companies to use unnatural additives to increase growth rates and profits. Many of these practices can be unhealthy for people to consume. Raising meat the natural way is more expensive, but there is nothing more costly than our bodies becoming sick from eating foods that contain poisons. We want to give families the choice of clean and pure meats.

We also raise purebred Black Angus cows. Pictured are yearlings on the south farm.

The next phase of the farm includes fresh eggs raised without chemicals. This is the start of building what we call the “chicken palace.”

At the end of 2024, the building Bradley had leased for years in Krugerville, Texas, was sold, and the lease would not be continued into 2025. In December of 2024, Bradley purchased five acres on Highway 377 just south of Whitesboro to build a new home for his medical practice.

Cashion Homes was contracted to build the new office. The plans were first hand-sketched and then brought to life by Carol Cashion. Construction began in January of 2025 and moved quickly so the building could be occupied by the end of May, which coincided with the end of Bradley’s lease. Although there were a few finishing details remaining, the practice was moved into its new and permanent home.

UR Family Clinic officially moved into the new building at 15622 Highway 377, Whitesboro, Texas, on May 1, 2025.

In June 2025, Natalie Hair, a horse and human chiropractor, moved her practice, Gold Buckle Chiropractic, into the second suite of the building. Below is Natalie and Bradley at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Growing up, Bradley learned through firsthand experience what it takes to keep the body performing at its peak. His involvement in sports taught him the importance of proper nutrition and fueling the body correctly. Both the medical profession and raising healthy food have always been part of his ongoing goal for optimal health.

The entire family is involved in the farming operation. His son Ethan and grandchildren all pitch in, whether it’s building fences, working the land, or sharing meals together during farm workdays.

Lunch on the farm during a workday is just part of life here.
